Since the publication of their debut novel in 2018, Akwaeke Emezi has been gracing the literary scene with elegant books. In 2019 they published their young adult book, Pet. This year they published their third novel, The Death of Vivek Oji. But Akwaeke is not done with us. More books: Their debut memoir, Dear Senthuran, will be published by Riverhead Books in 2021 and their debut poetry collection, Content Warning: Everything, would be published by Copper Canyon Press in 2022. 

Copper Canyon Press — a nonprofit, independent poetry publisher based in Port Townsend, WA, announced the publication deal with Akwaeke Emezi for their debut poetry collection via a tweet on 3rd December.

The tweet reads: “Exciting news: we are delighted to welcome AKWAEKE EMEZI (@azemezi) to Copper Canyon Press! We look forward to publishing their debut book of poetry in 2022.”

Akwaeke announced the publication deal with Riverhead Books for their debut memoir. They tweeted it on 10th December alongside their most recent published essay in the Paris Review.

The tweet reads: “First, I have an essay up on @parisreview about disability and embodiment, do read + share!

“Second, and with a drumroll, my nonfiction debut will be published next year by @RiverheadBooks! It’s a memoir titled DEAR SENTHURAN, coming Summer 2021.”
