Tochi Onyebuchi and Jordan Ifueko are finalists for the 2021 Hugo Awards. The finalists were announced on a video hosted by Malka Older and Sheree Renée Thomas.

Organized by the World Science Fiction Society, the  Hugo and Astounding Awards  are awarded for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements of the previous year.

The award is named after the founder of science fiction magazine Amazing Stories ,Hugo Gernsback. They are handed out at the annual World Science Fiction Convention. Previous winners include Isaac Asimov, Larry Niven, Arthur C. Clarke, J. K. Rowling, Nnedi Okorafor, N.K. Jemisin.

Tochi Onyebuchi’s Riot Baby emerged as a finalist in the best novella category, while Jordan Ifueko’s Raybearer became a finalist in the Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book category.

The winners of the awards will be announced at the Hugo Award Ceremony to be held in December 2021.
