Masande Ntshanga has released his third novel titled, Native Life in the Third Millennium. Speaking of his book in an interview with Blacklight Media, Ntshanga describes his latest novel as “an experimental chapbook, a hybrid collection of interlinking poetry and prose. It features a poet, philosopher, and a programmer living and working under systemic oppression in South Africa.”
Ntshanga also said the book aspires to be a portrait of native life in the third millennium. He revealed during the interview that the Covid-19 pandemic restricted his movement and gave him the time and space to write.
Ntshanga’s third novel is published by MODEL SEE MEDIA, a publishing media which Ntshanga founded to support experimental writing. His previous two novels are The Reactive and Triangulum. Triangulum has been widely described as a genre-bending.
Ntshanga lives in South Africa and teaches Creative Writing at Rhodes University. He was shortlisted for the Caine Prize in 2015. His works has received a Betty Trask Award, a PEN International New Voices Award, amongst others.
