Recently, Agbowó announced the establishment of two new literary prizes: The Alinea Prize for Non Fiction and The Editor’s Prize for Poetry.

The Alinea Prize for Nonfiction, administered by the Alinea Project in collaboration with Agbowó, wishes to award essays of “truth”   rendered in “the best way you can say it.” With a prize of $200, this year’s prize opened for submission on May 6, 2023 and will close by June 5th, 2023. The top 5 entries will have their work published on Agbowó.

The Editors Prize for Poetry, on the other hand, wishes to award the best work of poetry published in Agbowó in a calendar year. All works entered for publication will be considered eligible for the prize. Prize money is $100.

Agbowó is an African literary magazine dedicated to “its promise of providing a platform for creative Africans to reach a global audience.”
