Nigerian writer Tochi Onyebuchi is one of the winners of the World Fantasy Awards.
Given annually for the best fantasy fiction published during the previous calendar year, the awards are overseen by the World Fantasy Convention. The awards are given in several categories: novels, novellas, short fiction, anthology, collection, artist, and special award (professional and non-professional). This year’s judges were Tobias Buckell, Siobhan Carroll, Cecilia Dart-Thornton, Brian Evenson, and Patrick Swenson.
Tochi won in the best novella category for his fictional wok Riot Baby (Tordotcom). Celebrating his win, Tochi tweeted “SIRI, PLAY THE LLOYD BANKS VICTORY FREESTYLE.”
