The Shallow Tales Review, Nigerian-based electronic literary magazine dedicated to curating new, marginalised, and established voices from Africa, has released its 36th issue. This edition, themed “HOME,” was released on the 30th of November, 2021.
This issue features a conversation with Igbo author, Kasimma; four short fictions, and five poems, with contributors selected from Nigeria, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.
The magazine pays its debt to home. “…how does one walk away from himself? How do you take a stroll away from this very thing that you are, especially while still living?” nonfiction editor, Orji Victor Ebubechukwu asks in the issue’s editorial. “Sometimes, also, home may have a different impact on us; a cruel one, to say. But regardless, we still yearn for it.”
Some contributors in this issue include: Lynn Nyaera (Kenya), Odinakachi Nwonu (Nigeria), Festus Obehi Destiny (Nigeria), Tinashe Chipenyu (Zimbabwe), and others. The official cover photo was designed by Peter Ogunjinrin, with the art/photographs by ace Nigerian photographer, Ezenwa “Rex Sanguis” Okonkwo.
Issue 36 was edited by Nzube Nlebedim (fiction), Chidiebube onye Okohia (poetry) and Orji Victor Ebubechukwu (nonfiction).
