Sefi Atta’s 2010 novel, Swallow, has been adapted into film which is being directed by Kunle Afolayan. In an interview with Ben Amadasun, Netflix’s director of content for Africa, Kunle said that he has concluded a principal photography for Sefi Atta’s Swallow.


Swallow is set in Lagos in the 1980s. The novel tells the story of Tolani Ajao, a young secretary contemplating drug trafficking. Afolayan casts Nigerian singer, Niyola, as Tolani Ajao, and Ijeoma Grace Agu as Rose Adamson, Niyola’s outlaw roommate. Other cast members includes Chioma Akpotha, Deyemi Okanlawon, Omotunde Adebowale, Eniola Badmus, Mercy Aigbe, Kelvin Ikeduba, Joke Muyiwa, BBNaija reality star Thin Tall Tony and Olusegun Akinremi.
