Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been honored as a Library Lion at the New York Public Library’s annual gala.
Each year, “the New York Public Library honors several distinguished individuals for outstanding achievements in their respective fields of arts, culture, letters and scholarship by naming them Library Lions.” Previous honorees include Margaret Atwood, President Nelson Mandela, Steve Martin, Martin Scorsese, Zadie Smith, Gloria Steinem, Oprah Winfrey, and many more.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was honored alongside Tina Brown, Jonathan Lethem, and Darren Walker.
“To be honored as a @nypl “library lion,” Adichie gushes on Instagram, “to join a tradition of this lionized institution, and in such excellent company. Utterly spirit-lifting.”
