Abi Ishola-Ayodeji has a debut novel which has been acquired by HarperVia, an imprint of HarperCollins. The novel is titled, Patience is a Subtle Thief. Although the scheduled publication date is as yet unspecified, here is a synopsis from Publishers Marketplace:

The novel is “set against the backdrop of Nigeria’s historic 1993 election, following an 18-year-old, who enters a life of fraud in Lagos to gather the money she needs to reunite with her estranged mother in America, leading her to face the realities of her most dangerous job yet, as Nigerians endure the strain of instability after years of military dictatorship, the dashed hope for democracy, and bloody protests.”

The rights to the novel was acquired by Rakesh Satyal at HarperVia, by Nana Brew-Hammond (world).

Abi Ishola-Ayodeji is a Nigerian journalist. Her work has appeared on CUNY TV, ELLE.com, Ebony.com, Teen Vogue, and more. She was named one of ESSENCE Magazine’s Woke 100 Women for “launching Beyond Classically Beautiful, an acclaimed photo series turned media platform that celebrates Black women who defy traditional beauty standards.”
