Bisi Adjapon announced via Twitter that her novel, Of Women and Frogs, has been acquired by HarperCollins for publication and distribution in the UK later this year. Her second project Daughters in Exile was also acquired and scheduled for publication in 2022.

Adjapon’s Of Women and Frogs was first published by Farafina in 2018. The book has been praised for its witty style, and its portrayal of female strength.

Here’s a description of the novel from Farafina:

“Esi is a feisty half-Nigerian girl growing up in Ghana, with occasional visits to her maternal family in Lagos. When her curiosity about her body leads to a ginger-in-the-vagina punishment from her stepmother, Esi begins to question the hypocrisy of the adults around her and the restrictions they place on girls. Moving between Ghana and Nigeria, this is a heart-warming story of a girl beating a path to self-actualization amidst political upheaval in Rawlings’ Ghana and strained relations between her ancestral countries.”

We at Afreecan Read are so excited about this news and can’t wait to see Bisi´s second project. Best wishes Bisi!
