Nii Ayikwei Parkes, Caleb Femi, Inua Ellams, and Mark Gevisser are on the 2021 Rathbones Folio Prize longlist.
The Rathbones Folio Prize was founded in 2014 by London-based publishers, The Folio Society. The prize was initiated to reward “the best new work of literature published in the English language during a given year, regardless of form (fiction, non-fiction and poetry).” This year’s winner is set to receive a cheque of £30,000.
South African writer and queer rights advocate Mark Gevisser is being longlisted for The Pink Line: The World’s Queer Frontiers. British-Ghanaian writer, Nii Ayikwei Parkes, is being longlisted for his poetry collection The Geez. Caleb Femi is longlisted for his poetry collection Poor, and UK-based Nigerian poet Inua Ellams for The Actual.
The shortlist will be announced on 10th February, and the winner will be announced on 24th March.
