Toyin Falola Prize for Historical Writing is accepting submissions for its 2021 prize. This year’s prize is on the theme of “Africanfuturism.” Writers are encouraged to fully explore the theme as well as bring their own interpretations to it. There is no entry fee. Writers must be aged between 15 and 35 at the time of submission. The submission period runs from January 15 to May 15. The winner will receive a cash award of $2,500.

The prize is named after the Nigerian historian and distinguished professor of African Studies, Toyin Falola. The Prize is annually administered by literary magazine Lunaris Review.

Submission Guidelines.

  • Submissions should be between 1,500 to 4,500 words.
  • Entrants should submit only one story.
  • Submission must be the writer’s own work. Only unpublished work will be considered.
